It seems the industry will have some empty thrones to fill as some of our top celebrities are facing allegations that can and very well may end their careers. Dj Envy is a top radio show host at IHeart Radio but his days at the company are surly numbered. A recent claim of a real estate ponzi scheme has come to light in the worst way possible. In 2018 Envy, whose real name is Raashaun Casey partnered with Cesar Pina aka "Flippin NJ" to tour the tri-state area teaching people the real estate business.
Pina appeared alongside DJ Envy on IHearts' The Breakfast Club where he spoke on educating people in flipping houses, real estate development and investments. He has also stopped by Good Morning America and of course Drink Champs. Cesar has also named Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as one of his business partners.
Envy has stuck to his story that he didn't make any money from or have anything to do with the scheme. It appears the FEDS want to prove Envy benefited financially by endorsing the scam, while knowingly leading people to invest in real estate properties in order to have personal monetary gain. Though it is now being denied, Iheart radio's Manhattan location was supposedly raided on Wednesday October 18 resulting in the police removing electronic devices as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Back in July Envy along with Pina were sued by 20 investors for 1.5 million dollars. They claim to have invested in various properties that never showed any signs of construction, renovation, or monetary return. During this time Envy is speculated to have purchased a series of properties in Patterson, New Jersey. He is accused of undervaluing the buildings and then fixing and flipping or renting them out.
Immediately following the filing Pina went public stating Envy has no financial ties to his companies. He went on to say all the business deals in question we made solely with him and not Envy. Envy filed a motion to have the chargers dismissed with prejudice on August 2nd stating he is not now nor has he ever been an employee or representative for Taylor Company or Flip 2 Doe. Envy says he himself is out $500,000 on his own investment with Pina. The $17,000 monthly payments over a year’s time due on a joint venture in a school building have yet to be deposited into the dj's account.
Pina was arrested this week but was released with an ankle monitor in less than 24 hours. Pina now stands accused of stealing a minimum of 17 million dollars from investors. Envy is in the hot seat because many of the victims say he was the reason they trusted Pina in the first place. For the last five years Envy promoted the companies owned by Cesar on the radio, social media, tv, and in person at the seminars. Envy has yet to be charged, however there is a job opening for a radio show host on The Breakfast Club listed as I type this piece. Envy has also been calling in a doing the show for the last few days.
The story is still unfolding but there won't be much for anyone to Envy on the Breakfast Club in the days to come. Tony The Closer and FunkMasterFlex are personally invested in the destruction of DJ Envy’s influence and ending his reign as top radio show host. The fall from grace can be a long way down and they never did truly put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Remember Darling, the show must go on and in good fashion.
